Air Hand Dryers and How To Use Them

Air Hand Dryers

An air hand dryer is an air-blower system used in bathrooms as a means for drying hands after washing. Current hand dryers on the market are either motion activated or button activated. There are also different styles of hand dryers, some have blower spouts, others are recessed, some built into faucets, and others are vertical so the user can drag their hands upwards through the air. Some of the most common hand dryers on the market are the Dyson Airblade, Excel Dryer’s XLERATOR , and World Dryer’s AirMax . You can find images of these products below. In addition to the many brands of air hand dryers, there are also two main classes that they can fall into: Warm Air Dryers (WAD) and Jet Air Dryers (JAD). The AirMax is an example of a WAD, and the XLERATOR and Airblade are examples of JAD.

Hand Drying Procedure

  1. Activate the Hand Dryer--usually by sensor or button.
  2. Place hands into the air stream. Some users keep hands stationary, some flip hands over periodically, some rub their hands together, and some pull their hands through the air flow. Some of this procedure depends on the type of hand dryer.
  3. After drying, leave the machine--it will auto shut off.
